About Us
The Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department protects the lives and property of it 1,043 permanent residents, its many additional seasonal residents, and over 175,000 yearly tourists on a beautiful coastal island in the Mid-Coast region of Maine. Firefighters respond from two stations and provide structure and wildland fire response, basic and advanced life support response and transport, and rescue services. Should one of our paramedics be unable to respond to a patient requiring ALS intervention, an intercept paramedic service from the local hospital is available.
Our department consists of a diverse group of local volunteers. Men and women with varied backgrounds enjoy the camaraderie and solidarity of helping their neighbors in an emergency. Members fill one or more of a variety of roles, including scene support, traffic control, driver, EMS, and firefighter.
